Two Simple Tips for Using Binoculars
Set Your Focus: As you enter the birding area, predict how far away the birds will be and set the binocular focus to that distance before you begin.
Keep Your Eyes on the Subject: Spot a bird with your naked eye and don’t take your eyes off it! Bring the binoculars up to your face as you keep your eyes trained on the subject. FYI: lower magnifications have a wider field of view so this technique is easier with a 7x or 8x binocular.
Cleaning Your Optics
With regular use, the lenses of binoculars and spotting scopes will collect dust, dirt, and grime. Follow these steps to keep your optics free of annoying spots and smudges.
Remove Any Grit: use compressed air or a soft lens cleaning brush to keep from scratching the surface of the lens.
Remove Residue: use a microfiber or soft lens cleaning cloth to remove oils or fingerprints.
Remove Waterspots: any remaining waterspots can be cleaned with eyeglass or lens cleaner
